Have you ever wondered what would have happened if critical parts of the Christmas drama didn’t take place? What if Mary was unwilling to accept her assignment? What if Simeon hadn’t gone to the temple? What if the magi didn’t go home a different way? In each case, we see examples of ordinary people willing to trust the Lord. More importantly, we see that the miraculous first Christmas was orchestrated and protected by the sovereign care of God so that the greatest gift of all could be ours.
