Vice Grip: Anger

Sunday, March 16, 2025
Anger is a HUMAN emotion seen all throughout scripture, but there is a difference between God’s anger and ours, or God’s anger and Wrath. Wrath is the self-serving, sinful expression of anger. This type of anger is the vice so strongly warned about in scripture. As we examined this vice, we acknowledged that while anger is loud and offensive, it is often the symptom of so many reasons beneath the surface. So we asked ourselves, what is our anger guarding? Pride? Control? Misplaced affections failing us? Lack of rest, margin and solitude in our lives? This sermon invites tender heart reflection on the fragile emotions our anger is often protecting and offers practical tips of how to ease the stranglehold of it on our lives. As we listen, would Jesus continue to make all of us more like Him and as James says, “slow to speak, quick to listen and slow to get angry.”
