Living by Grace

The second half of Galatians chapter 2 starts with a confrontation between Paul and Peter, but is that what this passage is really about? A fight between two leaders? As we read, we see that Paul uses this confrontation and his response to Peter as a catalyst to remind the Galatians once again of the FREEDOM they have in Jesus. In doing so, Paul defines justification, Paul discusses his relationship to the Law and Paul reminds them ultimately of the NEW life they now live in partnership with the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of them. Because of Grace, the Galatians can know true freedom that cannot be tainted by any measure of earning, religious leader or fear of not being in the family of God.
