Nehemiah and the people have come to the realization that all is not well. As the people of God, they had drifted from living according to the Word of God. In order to flip their current script, the Israelites remember God's undeserved kindness to them through the generations and they confess their unfaithfulness as a community. They also seek to repent, or reorient their lives toward greater alignment with God's Word, because they know God is waiting for them to turn to Him. Today, as we sit in the tension of things not at all well, we look back on Jesus' loving sacrifice for us and we have been given the opportunity to turn toward God as well.
