What continues to trip you up in your spiritual journey? Most all of us find that despite our best intentions, our hearts are captivated by destructive desires and habits. These habits (vices) often have a “vice grip” hold on our hearts and undermine our goodness of character and our desire to live honorably. In the early days of Christianity, the Desert Fathers created a list of “Seven Deadly Sins.” To study these vices is both illuminating and liberating. Our struggles gain a name – the first step toward wrestling free from their hold on our lives. Vice Grip will prompt rigorous self-examination in this Lenten season and give us all practical help for moving ahead in our apprenticeship to Jesus.
