Moms, please read carefully. This is important for the safety of your child while he or she attends the MOPSKids program. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Elaine Rudnick at 847-204-2262.
We are excited to have this opportunity to become acquainted with your child(ren). Our goal is to provide quality child care through stories, games, crafts and songs. To ensure a safe and healthy environment and to help your children enjoy the MOPS morning, please adhere to the following policies and guidelines. Please arrive in time to settle your children (we suggest 8:45 a.m.). Remember, MOPS (for moms) begins at 9:00 a.m.
ELIGIBILITY
MOPSKids serves children, infants through grade kindergarten. This childcare program is to be used only by mothers attending MOPS. Homeschool children outside the age eligibility are welcome to sit at a table designated for homeschoolers. Please provide work or reading material for your child. If MOPSKids needs additional assistance in a room, we welcome older homeschooled children to be in the younger classrooms in a teacher’s helper role.
If you are providing childcare for children who aren’t members of your household and would need to bring them to MOPS, please have a parent fill out a consent form (one will be provided for you upon request) as well as a MOPSKids registration form.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
We will always be able to accommodate as many moms who wish to come to MOPS. However, a waiting list will be created for our MOPS program when childcare space reaches its capacity. It is very important that you attend on a regular basis to ensure your child’s spot in the MOPSKids program. Anyone who misses 3 meetings in a row will be considered inactive. At that time, your child’s spot will become available to be filled by a child on the waitlist.
CLASSROOMS
Children are divided into appropriate age groups based on the number of children attending, ratios of childcare workers to children and factoring children’s development such as eating snacks independently, crawling/walking, potty trained status, etc. Historically we have had as many as 2 nursery rooms, 2 Toddler rooms and a Pre-K room. Toddlers and Pre-K will have a snack and enjoy large room activities at some point in the morning. Please contact our MOPSKids Coordinator if you have any concerns about class assignments.
WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR CHILD’S CLASSROOM:
*Please label diaper bags and ALL items separately*
Infants: Diapers, Wipes, Bottle, Formula, Burp Cloth/Bib, Pacifier, Change of Clothes
1-3 year olds: Diapers, Wipes, Bottle/Sippy cup. Extra clothes.
3 years and older: Diapers, Wipes
WHEN NOT TO BRING YOUR CHILD TO MOPSKids
- Treatment with antibiotics started less than 24 hours ago
- Fever or vomiting in the last 24 hours.
- Childhood diseases (chicken pox, mumps, etc.)
- Any type of eye infection
If your child develops any of the above symptoms while in our care, we will have to remove your child from MOPSKids that day.
MOPSKids DISCIPLINE POLICY
In the event that a child is misbehaving (hitting, kicking, spitting, disrupting the class, showing aggression toward other children or teachers), the child will receive two verbal warnings from the MOPSKids teacher. If the child continues with the inappropriate behavior, the MOPSKids teacher will ask the child’s mother to remove her child from the MOPSKids room and leave MOPSKids for the day. In situations where a child is running, not sharing, not sitting still, or acting out of normal child behavior, the child’s mother will not be notified.
MOPSKids’ teachers will not use physical means to discipline the child (grabbing, spanking or shaking) nor will they raise their voices in anger. However, in the event that a child is hurting himself or another child, a MOPS worker will hold the child until the child’s mother can be reached. If a mother or MOPSKids teacher observes inappropriate behavior by another teacher, the MOPSKids Childcare Coordinator must be informed immediately. If there is evidence that a MOPSKids teacher has acted inappropriately, he or she will be removed from the MOPSKids ministry.
MOPSKids’ teachers have provided their time so that we as moms can have our time. Therefore, a MOPSKids teacher will not bring a child to the mother unless the child is sick, hurt, exhibits a behavior problem as mentioned above, or if the teacher has attempted to calm an upset child for 10 minutes without success.
When a mother picks up her child, teachers will report any behavioral problems or accidents (the child fell, had bathroom problems, etc.) that have occurred during the meeting.
The purpose of MOPSKids is to provide a safe, secure, and loving environment in which children can participate and where mothers can feel comfortable leaving their children. We can work together to create this atmosphere by having good, open communication between the mothers and the MOPSKids teachers. This is not possible unless you know who is caring for your child and they know you, so please make sure to personally introduce yourself and your children to each of your children’s MOPSKids teachers.
You signed our MOPSKids Agreement form when you registered yourself and children for the MOPS year. A new agreement will be completed each year of membership.
