Christmas Eve Offering

At Christmas, we give thanks that we have a generous God who has given us the greatest gift of all.  Because we have a giving God, it has been our practice to imitate God by taking a special Christmas collection.  This year, our collection will be distributed in three ways:

Locally, we will give a portion to our Internship/Residency Fund. Interns are those who are exploring a call to vocational ministry.  Internships are normally done by those either attending seminary or working a full-time job. This year, Joy Corley and Cody Albrecht are both working full-time jobs but also doing internships with NorthBridge worship and student ministries.  Residents are those who are clarifying their call to ministry.  Residents carry greater responsibility, invest greater time, and also receive greater compensation.  After two years of serving as an intern, Drew Litwiller graduated from seminary and is now doing a full-time residency as Director of Junior High ministries.  Our hope is that interns and residents will be prepared for ministry and a lifetime of Kingdom impact.

Regionally, we are will be getting behind the new work of Common Cause Groups.  These groups are comprised primarily of equipped disciples who are now working together to address a significant need.  One example is an emerging ESL Class.  Pastor Badr Rhomri is planting a church to reach Arabic-speakers in the near north suburbs.  One way for Badr to meet and serve these people is an English class.  NorthBridge people will be supporting an ESL class focused on helping immigrants and refugees from the Middle East to learn English.  Funds raised will help with class materials and other costs.  Another example is our Car Care Clinic.  These Jesus-focused “grease monkeys” are repairing and maintaining cars for people in need and single moms, addressing the significant need for reliable transportation.

Globally, we seek to bless our missions partner in West Africa.  Brad & Deb have been sharing the gospel with the those in West Africa for nearly twenty years.  As they have been ministering in tribal villages, they have come across many experiencing food shortages due to drought and poor harvests.  While teaching them more efficient agricultural methods, Brad & Deb also supply food through a program called Staples of Love.  This program offers a two-month supply of staples like millet, rice, and cooking oil to help struggling villagers make it through a challenging time.  The global portion of our offering will fund the purchase of needed supplies to help those experiencing a season of hunger.

Please prayerfully consider a generous, one-time, above-and-beyond gift to our Christmas offering.  All money collected at our Christmas services will be directed toward this fund.  If you are unable to attend our Christmas Eve service, you can give online or by using our app – just select “Christmas Offering” on the fund menu.  You can also place your gift in the offering all through December – just write “Christmas Offering” on memo line.
