NorthBridge’s Young Adult group will be leading a team to partner with Mexico Caravan Ministries in Tijuana, Mexico. This ministry trains people in cross-cultural ministry and gives practical opportunities to serve the poor by building small shelters, serve in an orphanage, and serving at a church in a garbage dump.

WHEN: The Trip: June 9-15, 2019
TRAINING: 4 meetings – TBD
DEBRIEFING: After our return, late August or early September
WHAT: We will primarily be working with Mexico Caravan Ministries (MCM); a mobilization ministry based in Tijuana, Mexico. MCM has been mobilizing short term youth trips to Tijuana for over 25 years. While with MCM, we’ll be building shelters, repairing roofs, building outhouses, digging outhouse holes, and other tasks necessary to the building process. Participants will also get a better view of what life is like in an impoverished area.
WHERE: We will be in Tijuana, Mexico throughout this trip. We will fly into San Diego, CA where we will stay overnight before driving rental vans across the border into Mexico. While in Mexico we will be staying at a rustic dormitory facility in the Mariano Matamoros section of Tijuana.
COST: Approximately $1,100 deposit (of $200 to hold your place due January 27)
WHY: First and foremost, we want to glorify God and learn to be obedient to His great commission to disciple all nations. That is our “True North ” which drives our church ’s vision to reach others with the love and truth of Christ. Practically, we want to bless the people in Tijuana who are in need of shelter, as well as the staff and partners of Mexico Caravan Ministries. This trip would be an initiative of the Young Adults ministry, but not exclusive to them
Finally, we hope to see people in Mexico would sense the love and truth of Jesus through our visible demonstration of His love for them. We plan on doing this by modeling a devotional life every day in Mexico, and going out of our way to be an encouragement to everyone we meet and share the Good News of Jesus. In all of this – we will find Jesus becoming more real to us. As we bless others He will bless us. As we share the gospel with others we will better understand it, and our hope is that people in Mexico may decide to follow Jesus too.
